Getting Started with ComicCaster

So you want your daily comics without visiting a dozen websites, dealing with pop-ups, or remembering to check each one? Welcome to ComicCaster.

  1. Go to comiccaster.xyz
  2. Find your comics
  3. Copy the feed URLs (or grab an OPML bundle)
  4. Add them to your feed reader
  5. Enjoy comics with your morning beverage of choice

That’s it. No accounts, no tracking, no algorithms deciding what you should read.

ComicCaster takes comics from various sources - GoComics, Comics Kingdom, TinyView, The Far Side - and turns them into RSS feeds. You subscribe to those feeds in a feed reader app, and your comics show up automatically.

Think of it like a newspaper delivery service, except:

  • It’s free
  • You pick exactly what you want
  • It works forever (as long as RSS exists, which will be as long as the internet is around)

  1. Pick a Feed Reader

You need an app to read your feeds. Here are some solid choices:

    AppPlatformPriceNotes
    NetNewsWireMac, iOSFreeFast, clean, open source.
ReederMac, iOS$5-10My personal favorite. Beautiful design, great reading experience.
    FeedbinWeb, any$5/moSyncs everywhere, rock solid.
FeedlyWeb, anyFree tierGood starting point, easy to use.
InoreaderWeb, anyFree tierPowerful features, good free option.
  2. Browse ComicCaster

Head to comiccaster.xyz and explore. You’ll see comics organized by source:

    • Daily Comics - Your newspaper favorites
    • Political Cartoons - Editorial comics
    • Spanish Comics - A variety, both daily comics and political cartoons
    • TinyView - Independent creators
  3. Subscribe to Individual Comics

Click any comic’s RSS link to copy the URL. Paste that into your feed reader’s “Add Feed” or “Subscribe” option.

    The URL looks something like:

    https://comiccaster.xyz/feeds/calvin-and-hobbes.xml
  4. Or Grab a Bundle (OPML)

Want a bunch of comics at once? Use the OPML feature:

    • Check the boxes next to comics you want
    • Click “Generate OPML”
    • Import that file into your feed reader

Most readers support OPML import - it’s like a playlist for feeds.

  5. You’re Done!

You’ll see the last few feed entries right away. New comics will appear in your feed reader as they’re published. No refreshing, no checking - they just show up.

This is separate from the comic feeds. Think of it as the “behind the scenes” newsletter.

Comics not updating? Most comics update daily. Some update less frequently. Give it 24 hours before worrying.

Feed shows old comics? That’s normal! Feeds include recent history so you have something to read right away.

My reader says the feed is invalid? Double-check you copied the full URL. If it still doesn’t work, let us know.

Comic I want isn’t listed? Request it! We add new comics regularly. We won’t be able to add feeds for all comics, but I love a good challenge.
